Children's Advocate is a publication by Action Alliance for children. It brings information and inspiration to parents and early education advocates to support their development as social actors and leaders -- creators of change. Experts cite parent engagement as a critical element of improved school outcomes, increased math and science literacy levels, nutrition and disease prevention, and effective public health interventions on vaccinations. Parents are the key to moving the needle forward in every civic area that concerns children regardless of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic level.

Parent Connection of San Luis Obispo County offers a variety of free and confidential services, including a web-based family resource center (www.sloparents.org) with a current list of parenting classes and parenting support services, an information line to help parents find appropriate classes and parenting resources in their area, and a Helpline with professional coaches who can answer parenting questions and provide support.
