Council Membership
The Council consists of members who live and/or work within the county and are interested in the mission and vision of the Council. Every effort is made to ensure the composition of the Council represents the ethnic, racial and
geographic distribution of the population of the County as a whole to ensure diverse representation.
Council membership represents the following categories:
All Council and committee meetings are open to the public. Parties interested in becoming a Council member are encouraged to attend Council meetings. Applications for membership are accepted anytime. The Membership Policy and Partnership Committee recommends new members at the October Council meeting and appointments are made jointly by the Superintendent of Schools and the County Board of Supervisors in December. New terms begin in January for a two year period.
Community members who are not appointed Council members may become voting members of a standing committee after attending 2 consecutive committee meetings and submitting an Application for Committee Membership to the Membership, Policy and Partnership Committee. Committee membership and voting privileges will commence after membership approval from the Membership, Policy and Partnership Committee. Community membership in Committees shall be for a term of one year. Community members of committees must comply with all attendance requirements and terms may be extended for additional years with approval of the Standing Committee.

- 20% community representatives
- 20% consumers of childcare
- 20% public agency representatives
