Question and Answer Regarding Eligibility

 

 

Do I have to be a licensed child care provider to apply?

In order to be eligible for a cash stipend, yes, you must be licensed. However, we also offer a pre-entry level category

for all providers who are not currently licensed. You may be eligible under that category.

 

Can I apply with professional growth hours if I am a center-based child care provider?

In order to receive a cash stipends, all center-based child care providers must have completed at least 6 ECE semester units by June 30, 2005.

 

Can I take classes on the internet?

Possibly. It is important that the classes you take are accredited and valid with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

If you have concerns, please contact us before you sign up for coursework. Cuesta College, Alan Hancock and Cal Poly

are all accredited and valid courses.

 

Cal Poly courses are quarter units. How are those translated to semester units?

Quarter units are 2/3 or a semester unit. You can multiple quarter units by .67 to determine the number of

semester units.
