REWARD II

In order to qualify for a stipend in 2004/2005, a child care provider must meet the following requirements:

1. 20 hours or more each week working as a paid child care provider or director in San Luis Obispo County.
(Volunteers are not eligible.)

2. 9 months with same licensed (or license-exempt) child care organization/home between July 1, 2004 and
June 30, 2005, and currently working in child care in San Luis Obispo County on July 15, 2005. (Substitutes
working at multiple sites are not eligible.)

3. Must be 18 years or older by the beginning of the 9-month work requirement.

4. Earn less than $16 per hour for Family and Private Centers, including Head Start. State-funded Center
Providers do not have a wage cap; however, priority will be given to those earning less than $16 per hour.

5. Provide care for at least one child who is not your own between the ages of 0 to 5 and not enrolled in
kindergarten.

6. Providers are eligible if they still need to complete up to 24 ECE1 semester units, including core courses
‘OR’ still need to complete 6 units specialization, 2 units adult supervision, 6 units administration, and/or
3 units supervised field experience to qualify for a higher level Child Development Permit.
State-funded Center Providers: General Education units may be used for eligibility and you are in the
process of obtaining an AA or BA in Child Development/Early Childhood.

7. If you are a new applicant, you must meet one of the three eligibility categories listed under ‘First Time Applicant’.

8. If you are a returning applicant, you must meet the requirements listed under ‘Continuing Applicant’.
