- Cindy Cipres: 2011-12 Council Chair, Owner/Director, Cipres Family Child Care Program. Cindy has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2008.
- Sandra Bourbon: Director of Self-Sufficiency for the Housing Authority of the City of San Luis Obispo (HASLO). Sandra has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2003. She has worked for the Housing Authority since early 2000 and currently manages the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, Children’s Work Incentive Program, and Learning Center of HASLO. She has direct contact with children and families on a daily basis and understands the need and importance of quality childcare. Before the Housing Authority, Sandra was employed with SLO County at the Department of Social Services and Transitions Mental Health. She has been an Advisory Board Member to EOC/Child Care Resource Connection since 2000, is also a member of the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) for the San Luis Coastal Unified School District. Sandra has a B.S. Degree from Cal Poly in Social Sciences with a concentration in Sociology.
- Mika Buchanan: Community Action Partnership, Child Care Resource Connection. Mika became a member of the Child Care Planning Council in September 2008.
- Meghan Burger: Recreation Supervisor, City of SLO Parks and Recreation. Meghan has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2010.
- Jan Campbell: Director, Maternal Child Health, SLO County Public Health. Jan has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2002.
- Patty Clarkson: Director, Cal Poly Preschool Lab. Patty has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2011. Patty has been in the field of Early Education for over 20 years, as a teacher, director, administrator, college instructor, seminar leader. Developed and administrated a P through 6th grade private school program for past 18 years. Recent research in the area of ECE teacher preparation programs, ECE teacher beliefs about constructivsm, and the importance of purposeful, intentional teacher-child interactions. Co-Authored: Classroom Insights from Educational Psychology: A Developmental Approach to Educating Young Children, Daniels, D., Clarkson, P. (Corwin Press, 2010).
Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, with an emphasis in Early Education, from UCSB (2010) Master’s degree in Education Administration from Cal Poly (2000) B.S. degree in Human Development from Cal Poly (1989). - Lisa Fraser: Executive Director, Child Abuse Prevention Council.Lisa has been active on the Child Care Planning Council since 1998. She has served as the Executive Director of SLO-CAP, the San Luis Obispo County Child Abuse Prevention Council (www.slocap.org) since January 2001. Before coming to SLO-CAP she directed school-age programs and camps for the SLO County YMCA for 5 years. She is a member of the San Luis Obispo County Children Services Network and works with the California Office of Child Abuse Prevention to lead the Coastal Tri-Counties Child Abuse Prevention Coalition (www.ctccapc.org) and Regional Child Death Review Team Program. Lisa graduated from Cal Poly in 1977 with a B.S. in Physical Education and was awarded a Single-Subject Teaching Credential 1978. Lisa has lived in SLO since 1975 and is married to Larry Fraser, a dental laboratory owner. They have two children, Brooke and Dylan.
- Terri Kurczweski: Director, San Luis Child Development Center. Terri has been as Child Care Planning Council member since 2011.
- Heather Salyer-Frith: Recreation Supervisor/Youth Services Division, City of Morro Bay Recreation and Parks Department. Heather has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 1999. Because Heather was raised on the Central Coast, she is deeply attached to the youth and community in which she works and lives. She not only supervises staff and programs that relate to school age children and teenagers, but also plans and organizes many city family oriented events such as the Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Holiday Tree Lighting. Heather greatly enjoys her job because she gets to work with the world’s most amazing treasures… children and youth.
- Don Norton: Division Chair, Human Development, Cuesta College. Don has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2005.
- Nancy Norton: Program Director, Child Development Programs, San Luis Obispo County Office of Education. Nancy had been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2008.
- Katie Ostrom: SLO YMCA. Katie has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2011.
- Elise Roberts: Division Manager, Department of Social Services. Elise has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2006.
- Melinda Sokolowski: Parenting Opportunities Program, Community Action Partnership. Melinda has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2001.
- Elizabeth ‘Biz’ Steinberg: Executive Director, Community Action Partnership. Biz was one of the three organizations, San Luis Obispo County Office of Education, Pacific Gas and Electric and Economic Opportunity Commission (now Community Action Partnership) that started the Local Child Care Planning Council in 1989, almost a decade before it was mandated by the state in 1998. Biz chaired the Child Care Planning Council for 10 years and has served continuously since it’s inception. She has served as a First 5 Commissioner and is a Board member of the Child Development Policy Institute.
- Shannon White-Bond: Program Coordinator, San Luis Obispo County Office of Education. Shannon has been a member of the Child Care Planning Council since 2011.
- Sheri Wilson: Director, Childcare Resource Connection, Community Action Partnership. Sheri has served on the Child Care Planning Council since it’s inception in 1989 as Community Partners in Child Care. As a graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, Sheri’s career has spanned 40 years working in the public and private sector, in major fields of study, Criminology and Social Services. “It has all been very rewarding to me professionally and personally.”
- Brad Schultz: Council Liaison to the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, San Luis Obispo County Office of Education. Brad became a member of the Council in 2006 and was appointed to fill the vacant position of Council Liaison to the Superintendent of Schools in September 2008.
- Reva Gonzales: Council Liaison to the Board of Supervisors, Children’s Services Network.
- Carol Capito: Council Coordinator Carol has been the LPCl Coordinator since August 2001.
